Volunteers Working From Home

A growing number of CIS members "lend a hand" by producing items from their homes for gift shop sales and other projects. These women are not always available to come to volunteer at the Centre but still wish to be active supporters of the CIS.

The materials for these creations are provided by the CIS. Fabrics are sewn into children’s fashions, skeins of yarn are knitted and crocheted into sweaters, socks, toques, mittens and afghans. Smaller pieces of fabrics are cut into squares in preparation for quilt piecing. Yardages of fabric are measured, prepared and sewn in preparation for traditional Doukhobor quilt assembly. Pieced quilts become works of art through the creative expression of the skillful machine quilters.

Assistance with any of our projects is welcomed, either by joining us at the centre or working on creations in the comfort of one's own home.
